Wisconsin/Illinois — On Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, the U.S. Postal Service will observe the federal holiday marking the birthday of civil rights movement champion Martin Luther King Jr. There will be no mail delivery, however, a limited number of Lakeland District Post Offices will be open for full retail lobby service, including passport applications.

CHICAGO IL — Chicago Post Offices will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2020 in observance of the federal holiday marking the birthday of Civil Rights Movement champion Martin Luther King Jr. His official birthday is Jan. 15. The holiday is commonly referred to as Martin Luther King Day. There will not be any mail delivery or retail service on January 20. All services resume on Tuesday, January 21. Post Offices will be open regularly scheduled hours on Saturday, January 18.

MONTEREY PARK, CA — The U.S. Postal Service today marked the beginning of the Lunar New Year by issuing a new Forever stamp celebrating the Year of the Rat. The stamp was dedicated during opening ceremonies of the Monterey Park Lunar New Year Festival, one of the largest festivals of its kind in the nation. The public is asked to share news of the stamp using the hashtag #LunarNewYear.

WASHINGTON – The Governors of the United States Postal Service are conducting a thorough, nationwide search for a successor to Postmaster General Megan J. Brennan, who announced her intent to retire effective Jan. 31, 2020. To facilitate the search and transition process, the Postmaster General has agreed to delay her retirement date.
